Destination: Streudel Elation
So upon our arrival to Vienna, I was increadibly sick. Needless to say I was not expecting much for my birthday because of my condition. But Seth made it really great. He reserved us our own room at the hostel, he made me a delicious Mexican dinner (the best of our trip), got me some birthday cake, and bought me a new book! Thanks Honey!
As I was recuperating, we decided to walk around the main city of Vienna. It was of course very cold and rainy, but we saw the sights needless to say. One of the first sights was the cathedral at Stephansplatz in the center of town. Not as good at the cathedral in Prague, but not bad. The same day we went to Schloss Shonberg, the summer palace. This was one of our main missions in coming to Vienna. We were told by a certain Bill Maxwell, that right outside the Summer Palace is a bakery with the best apple streudel in the world. Thus, we came to Vienna to seek out said pastry. The palace was a gloomy as possible that day with mixture of rain and snow, but we found the streudel nonetheless. And it was DELICIOUS! Thanks for the suggestion Bill.
While in the hostel we met some very nice, and very interesting characters. There was Bret, the Australian with 16 piercings...half below the belt. There was Gabriel, the freespirited Swedish guy who dabbled in guitar. And finally, Stephanie and Chad, the Australian couple we befriended over drinks and making dinners together. It was great meeting all of you in Vienna. Hopefully Seth and I will visit stephnchaddoeurope in Australia soon!
We also visited the Christmas markets in Vienna which are the best we've seen yet. They decorated the trees with hearts and plastic candy, and even transformed one of the buildings into a giant Advent calendar.
See you in Venice!
